Did you know? The U.S. EPA estimates that 20% of onsite septic systems fail nationwide. In the Upper Saranac Watershed alone, that means approximately 196 systems are potentially leaking harmful waste into our environment.
The Septic System Replacement Program reinforces the Upper Saranac Foundation’s mission to protect water quality by incentivizing the replacement of aging or sub-standard septic systems. Failing septic systems can lead to contamination of groundwater, lakes, and ponds, posing significant risks to drinking water and the environment.
