Join the Campaign to Remove Invasives from Fish Creek Ponds Campground
A new form of Milfoil (Variable Leaf) has been discovered in the waters of the Fish Creek Ponds Campground. It has now worked its way into Fish Creek Bay and towards Buck Island on Upper Saranac Lake.
We have committed to a three year program at a total cost of $128,000. This includes some funding that will reduce our share of the cost. We are also actively applying for Grants to further lower our financial commitment. In addition, we are seeking funding from New York State, but are not clear if this approach will succeed.
During the fall of 2016, 9.5 tons of Milfoil were harvested during the initial diving period.
At the end of the three year program, the Upper Saranac Foundation will maintain control within our Annual Milfoil Budget.
Your generous contribution will help us make progress towards control of Milfoil at the Fish Creek Ponds Campground and will be part of our three year program to get Invasives there under control.
